When building a brand it is imperative to start with why.
It all starts with a story. This can include things like where you came from, or what you believe. When telling your brand story it is also a good idea to communicate what you represent, or don’t represent and why you do what you do! This is because humans are invested in stories.
Stories are a fundamental way we connect with people. Knowing your own story can increase your confidence. This story sets the tone for everything including the visual identity you create, and your social media content.
“Be Yourself. Everyone else is already taken.”Oscar Wilde
Everything your brand releases, produces, manufactures and says should come from the “why” of your brand. People don’t buy what you do. They buy why you do it. A great example of this is apple: we believe in thinking differently and changing the status quo – we just happen to make great computer products.
A brand is packaging, delivering, and communicating your story on a continuous basis to your target audience. This can be done through a multitude of mediums from music, to photos.
